2021 Lockdown Collecting #6 - is the lockdown over?

Well June has come and gone, I had hoped this would be the last Lockdown Collecting blog as we Brits were expecting the end of COVID 19 Lockdown. Sadly lockdown in the UK got extended till the middle of July, so there might still be half a blog to do at the end of July.

End of season snooping around landed me with a matchworn Albion Rovers away shirt (and shorts as it happens).

This is the number 4 shirt which was worn variously during the 2020-2021 season by Scott Glover, Sean Fagan and Alfie Robinson.

A decent shirt made by Joma, with maybe a passing nod to the Albion Rovers away shirt from 1998-2000.

Next up was another end of season grab, this time a bargain from the Shrewsbury Town online store, the 2020-2021 home shirt, made by legendary brand Admiral.

Next up, normal service has been resumed, a Brighton and Hove Albion goalies shirt. This is from the 2004-2005 season, and one of the many variations chosen by the Seagulls former Dutch Marine (Chef), Michel Kuipers, who it seems chose every permutation from the Errea 'keepers catalogue every season.

If you want to see what I mean about Michel's voracious appetite for different colours, take a look at how many goalies shirts Brighton had between 2000 - 2010.

And I didn't settle for just one goalies shirt in June, here is Jason Steele's benchworn Poppy shirt from 2019.

Whilst Jason didn't make an appearance on the pitch during November 2019, all the shirts, including substitutes, were badged up with the Poppy emblem and then sold off to raise money for the Royal British Legion.

An oddity for you now, this is a genuine Admiral shirt, commissioned by Bang On Brewery in Bridgend in South Wales, to commemorate the Euro 2020 tournament (which was played a year late in 2021). This one is a throwback to the classic England shirt of 1980-1983 .

They also produced a version of the famous tramline Wales shirt of 1976-1979 as well as an imagination of a Scotland home shirt, if it had been made by Admiral.

Reverting back to another end of season sale item, this decent Elgin City away shirt, also made by Joma, from the 2020-2021 season.

Off to the USA now, and a shirt of Californian semi pro side Oxnard Guerreros who play in the National Premier Soccer League Which is unofficially recognised as the 4th tier of Soccer in America.

I have no idea who Restivo is, could this be his or her match shirt?

And my final flourish for June, and another shirt from the USA, this time it’s Rhode Island‘s Providence City FC 2021 Pride shirt, a beauty made by Inaria, and a worthy addition to the stunning history of Rogues shirts.

So there it is, the penultimate Lockdown Collecting blog, I wonder what the first three weeks of July will bring.
