Lockdown Collecting #3

Some shirts I picked up during the COVID19 lockdown period.

This is the 2014 away shirt of Duli Pengiran Muda Mahkota Football Club (DPMM FC), the team are from Bandar Seri Begawan in Brunei but they currently play in the Singapore Premier League.

They've had an interesting history, originally they played in the Brunei Premier League and then in 2005 moved to play in the Malaysian Premier League, and gained promotion to the Malaysian Super League the following year. In 2009 they resigned from the Malaysian League and joined the Singaporean Premier League. They got banned by FIFA from international sport due to the Brunei governments interference in the Brunei FA, they were finally re-admitted to the S-League with this shirt in 2014, and went on to win the league in 2015.

The design is a clear mimic of the famous Bruised Banana shirt worn by Arsenal in the 1991-1992 season. DPMM FC have had a number of kits over the years that pay homage to other iconic kits, and this one is little more than a copy of the Gunners kit.

That said, it was far cheaper than the Adidas classic which you can currently find selling for £400 or more; https://bit.ly/2XytatI

The Lotto shirt has been well made, the fabric is their Deep Dry Tech which is lightweight, and the quality of detail printing seems spot on. Each sleeve has the expected stitched on LOTTO red flag patch.

I think I'm happy to have this in my collection, it's probably a bit more Marmite than Bruised Banana for many, but it sits well in my collection from here, there and everywhere.

You'll find a few more colourful DPMM FC shirts that have been posted on my website if you click here.
