Lockdown Collecting #4

Some shirts I picked up during the COVID19 lockdown period.

This is a special shirt by Brighton & Hove Albion, produced in limited numbers in May 2020 to raise money for the clubs "Albion as One" charity fund.

The shirt is based on the 2019-2020 home shirt made by Nike and has a "THANK YOU NHS" emblem heatpressed transfer over the normal American Express logo and on the sleeve a "Thank You Key Workers" badge.

Albion as One was launched by the Brighton players who contributed from their wages and chose a number of charities and organisations in Sussex who needed support during the COVID-19 crisis.

Brighton have a strong reputation supporting local people and causes, their own award winning Albion in the Community charity works extensively providing accessible opportunities to people in local community.

"The club’s players and staff have selected a number of organisations based in Sussex, including charities for hospices, sick children, domestic abuse victims, bereavement care, foodbanks, homeless support and health workers – who will all benefit from the fund – alongside a contribution of approximately 20% to Albion in the Community.

They are all charities hardest hit by the global coronavirus pandemic and will distribute funds to help communities in the city of Brighton & Hove and across our county." www.brightonandhovealbion.com

The shirt arrived on 28 May 2020, along with a Thank You card from the club, who waived all proceeds from the sale of the shirts to be contributed to the fund.

I even heard a whisper that Nike may have contributed too, wonders will never cease.

Other BHAFC charity shirts.

The annual Poppy Day football shirt auctions, when players shirts shirts worn around the time of the Remembrance in November of each year are auctioned off, I have a number of these which you can see below.

And a selection of other charity shirts in my collection;
